Helping Habitat for Humanity

The people of St. Mark’s have twice helped out on Habitat building projects. The first time, the women got together to help truss and side and anchor a ‘Women’s Build” project out off the Martin Luther King Boulevard, near the I-4 exit.

A year later at the same general site, men and women alike, spent a Saturday morning and painted the complete interiors of three Habitat houses. Both times the teams brought sandwiches and drinks for the workers and the homeowners.

The group hopes to gather enough people this fall to constitute a St. Mark’s Only Saturday to help on a site. If you think this is something you would be interested doing contact Susan Maguire.

Habitat also has a recycling program for those renovating homes or offices and have left-over building supplies, or reusable items that Habitat can utilize. Their Builder Supply Store is located at 3738 E. Hillsborough Ave.; phone number 813-237-1978.
