A Message From Our Rector
Welcome to the St. Mark's. My name is Fr. Roy, and I am St. Mark's second Rector. I served as a Priest Associate at St. Mary's in Bonita Springs before my call to St. Mark's, and graduated from Nashotah House Theological Seminary, cum laude, with a Master in Divinity. Before seminary, I received a BA from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL, and worked in the healthcare industry as a Director of Operations for various adult and pediatric home health infusion companies in the Tampa Bay area, as well as in medical sales.
My wife, Marcia, and I have been married for twenty years and have two grown daughters, Stephanie and Heather. I am a native of St. Petersburg, FL and Marcia was born in Cincinnati, OH, but moved to Florida as a child. Marcia is a nurse, and works at CareCentrix in Tampa as a Sr. Business Analyst UM. Prior to ordination, I was involved in various ministries in our Diocese, including working with Marcia in youth ministry at various churches, serving as the Chair of New Beginnings, and I am active in the Cursillo community. I have been blessed to serve on mission to our brothers and sisters in Barbados and the Dominican Republic, and since 2007 my wife and I have been serving on mission teams to the Agalta Valley in San Estaban, Honduras. In 2013, I made my first pilgrimage to the Holy Land with Behold the Man, and later the same year Marica and I had the honor and privilege of meeting the new Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, during our visit to Canterbury, UK. In my time off I enjoy cycling, fishing, and from time to time take on the frustration and joys of golf.
I am excited about the ministry opportunities at St. Mark's, and look forward to what God has in store for us on this journey. It is my prayer that through our worship, ministries and outreach we will be witnesses to the Good News of Jesus Christ and share the message of faith, hope and love with the community around us and the world. May the Holy Spirit be with you, guide you, and give you wisdom and I hope you will "come and see" that the joy of the Lord is alive and thriving at St. Mark's, and join us on our mission to love God and love our neighbor in Jesus' name.
God’s grace and peace be with you,
