Securing Our Future
Endowment Fund
St. Mark’s Vestry established the Endowment Fund in 2015. The purpose was to create a special investment fund which would support ministries in the future.

WHERE IS THE FUND AND WHO MANAGES IT?
St. Mark’s contributes monies so designated into a special account managed by the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida for that purpose. Other Episcopal churches in the Diocese also participate in this program. The shared arrangement provides us with the best possible oversight, professional management, investment diversification, and liquidity.
The Diocese oversees the account through a Diocese Fund Board. St. Mark’s also has an Endowment Fund Committee with the fiduciary responsibility to oversee our contributions. The responsibility of St Mark’s Endowment Committee is:
HOW CAN I CONTRIBUTE TO THE ENDOWMENT FUND?
The Endowment Fund accepts gifts of cash, investment securities, personal and real property. It’s easy to make a contribution. Simply write a check to St Mark’s and put “Endowment Fund” in the memo section. If you prefer to have wiring instructions, please contact the office for account information.
If you would like to know how to include St Mark’s in your will, and want some or all of the funds to go to the Endowment program, please make an appointment to talk with Fr. Bob Douglas. He will happily walk you through the procedure.

- To ensure all funds so designated are sent to the Diocese for investment;
- To ensure that St Mark donations are invested in balanced mutual funds which offer satisfactory gain while protecting against potential loss;
- To promote and encourage member donations to St Mark’s Endowment Fund;
- To recommend action as needed to the Vestry to safeguard and secure our investment.

What about Planned Giving?
The Endowment Fund is separate from Planned Giving in that the Endowment Fund exists now and will continue always as a fund that generates income. Planned Giving is the financial planning of individual families and offers various methods of giving to St. Mark's at a future time, often later in life. Planned giving instruments can direct future monies to the Endowment Fund as well as to the parish for other purposes.
